Lecture/Workshop: The Vagus Nerve – The Body’s Hidden Superconductor
Understand the body’s longest cranial nerve and its role in stress, well-being, and emotional regulation
Format: Lecture and practice
Duration: 2 hours
Time & Place: By arrangement
Description
The vagus nerve is the body’s longest cranial nerve and serves as a central communication pathway between the brain and many internal organs. In recent years, it has become a key concept in modern understandings of stress, well-being, and emotional regulation.
In this workshop, participants will gain:
A nuanced understanding of why the vagus nerve has become both controversial and fascinating
Insight into polyvagal theory and its contributions to understanding relational safety and bodily states
Knowledge of what modern neuroscience actually reveals about the vagus nerve and the autonomic nervous system
Theory is translated into practice through polyvagal-inspired and neuroregulatory exercises, which strengthen:
Balance
Interoception
Body awareness
Emotional regulation
