Program: Stress Navigation in Leadership

A two-session module focused on leadership tools for stress prevention and resilience.

Purpose: Equip leaders with research-based knowledge and practical exercises that act directly on the body’s stress systems to prevent and manage stress effectively.

Target audience: Leaders

Duration: Two sessions of 4 hours each, with approximately 14 days in between

  • Session 1: Introduction to theory and exercises

  • Session 2: Implementing knowledge and tools in daily work

Format: Lectures, dialogue, and exercises

Description:

Managing and preventing stress is a crucial part of any workplace well-being strategy.

This course presents the latest research-based insights into how stress affects well-being, functionality, relationships, collaboration, and health, while giving leaders concrete tools to create a stress-resilient workplace.

You will learn:

  • Self-leadership: how to navigate and prevent unhealthy stress in yourself

  • How to spot stress symptoms

    • in employees

    • in group dynamics

  • How to facilitate relevant conversations and initiatives that prevent stress and create conditions for positive development

Theoretical knowledge:

  • Biological control systems of stress

  • The connection between emotions and stress

  • How stress impacts mindset, cognitive sharpness, decision-making, and influence

  • Stress effects on collegial relations and teamwork

  • Long-term stress effects on health: mechanisms and symptoms

Tools provided:

  • Step-by-step guide to personal leadership, including skills to regulate emotions and build resilience

  • Dialogue guide for leading stress-related conversations and fostering employee development

  • Exercises to reduce stress in acute situations

  • Exercises to build a resilient baseline

  • Ideas for structural measures to prevent stress

Instructors:

  • Karen Johanne Pallesen, Neurobiologist, Health Researcher (PhD), lecturer at Aarhus University PhD School in The Science of Stress and Resilience, Hammel Neurocenter in Stress Science, and Folkeuniversitetet in courses such as The Stressed Brain: From Stress to Resilience and Memory & Stress, columnist and debater.

  • Mette Bjerggaard, MD and Psychotherapist (MPF) with private practice, trained in relational leadership at Blackbird Institute, and certified in emotional regulation by Susan David.
