Stress is the nervous system’s signal to the body to gear up and be ready for action – an automatic response to change that is essential in many situations.
In today’s fast-paced society, many people get caught in continuous stress activation, which undermines well-being, cognitive function, and social skills – often long before serious illness occurs.
This lecture provides participants with:
Insight into the mechanisms of stress in body and mind
Knowledge of how understanding the nervous system can motivate action and provide tools to prevent unhealthy stress
Practical perspectives on strengthening well-being in the workplace and in other areas of life
Instructor:
Karen Johanne Pallesen – Neurobiologist (PhD), health researcher, lecturer at Aarhus University (PhD School: The Science of Stress and Resilience), Hammel Neurocenter (Stress Science and Resilience: Theory and Practice), and Folkeuniversitetet (The Stressed Brain: From Stress to Resilience, Breathing for Mental Health), columnist and public debater.
